LMPS Achieve Gold Mark 3 Years Running!
We are delighted to announce that we, Lytchett Matravers Primary School, have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Some of our most memorable sporting achievements this year include:
- Year 5/6 Football team getting to 3 semi finals, the PEDSSA cup, East Dorset 7aside and the AFC Bournemouth 6 aside!
- Netball team winning the East Dorset festival and qualifying for the County Tournament!
- Year 6 boy placing 1st in the Dorset Cross Country league and PEDSSA Cross Country.
- Year 5 girl swimming in Dorset County finals Swimming Gala
- Year 6 girl representing PEDSSA at the national girls football tournament in Liverpool
- Whole school running team achievements in the Level 2, Pyramid Manor Mile
With a total of 233 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to all of our children, staff and parents that have made this possible. To Mr Noyce and Miss Meacher, who have lead the way so brilliantly for PE at our school during 2017-18.
We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
