School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school's engagement in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
To achieve Platinum, we have focused on demonstrating how we have ensured that we have developed and maintained 60 active minutes across your school.
As a school, we want to ensure our children are provided with a wide curriculum of sports, with the opportunity to partake in activities for at least 60 minutes a day. From this, we have started Project Platinum for children to take part in an activity during break and lunchtimes, and challenge themselves. We have created a rota where if a class doesn’t have PE on that day, they have got 2 slots during that day to partake in PE activities. From this, we have seen an impact on the increase of participation of sports.
We have worked closely with our Bronze Ambassadors in leading this, where they have supported in creating the challenges, picking what needs to be completed in each level, setting and leading the sessions during break and lunchtimes, and even supporting assemblies when the new activities are launched. As a school, we have seen increased participation in sports, in addition to children developing their skills across a range of sports, which they are able to apply within their PE lessons and competitions. There have even been a huge decrease in the amount of first aid incidents.

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible. We are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community. We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:
- Mr Noyce - for all your amazing support! Not just for getting Platinum, but for everything you do in our PE lessons and more!
- My Bronze Ambassadors for being so incredible in creating and working so hard on Project Platinum.
We are looking forward to reviewing it in September and starting it all again with our current and new Bronze Ambassadors. We look forward to applying once again in 2023!
